Why the heck does anyone need (or want) a website?

I debated for months whether or not to set up a website. Publishers and fellow writers have told me it’s a “must” to have a website and a blog. I had no intention of setting one up, let alone paying for someone else to do it. But as I was sitting one night watching the Steelers offense struggle to get a first down, I mentioned it off handedly to my son who was sitting next to me. “Give me your computer” was pretty much all he said. Without even looking down he spent about twenty minutes typing before non chalantly handing it back with this website ready to publish. I have never felt like more of a luddite.

So here it is….

Books and Stuff. The “stuff” are stories and non-fiction works I’ve written over the years. Some of it is funny, some serious. Fortunately for anyone reading this I’ve not linked to any works published in medical or scientific journals, primarily to mitigate the somnolence of those who might find themselves trying to read them.

One of the benefits of having a website is the ability to express oneself through the narcissistic act of writing a blog. On occasion I may try my hand at writing about a topic or two, but don’t expect any sort of regular exposition. I’m going to try and post related to my books, and I’ll be posting about events like readings and other events, in case anyone wishes to attend.

With all that in mind, thank you for visiting my site. Hopefully you’ll find something worth reading.
